We built the cottage in 2005 with lumber from an old plantation house that dated back to the early 1900. Built as a starter home for my son and his new wife and as the family grew, his home became too small.

You'll have the privacy of a single cottage with two bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, kitchen & laundry room. Both bedrooms have full-size beds. The private bath has an oversized tub plus a separate walk-in shower. The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with continental breakfast items you prepare at your leisure with coffeemaker with coffee and condiments. Soft drinks and bottled water chilling in the fridge. Linen and towels are provided.

It's a perfect place to relax on the front porch in a rocker and to swing to the sounds of nature under the large oak tree.

Minutes away from Antebellum/Plantation Homes like Oak Alley, St. Joseph & Laura. A short drive you can visit some of the other homes like San Francisco, Destrehan, Houmas House, Evergreen, Nottoway and more.

Good eating at local restaurants include Spuddy’s Cajun Foods, B&C Seafood, DJ Grill, Oak Alley Restaurant or a quick sandwich at Wag-a-Pac and Grub Shop. For your sweet tooth, Schexnayder’s Bakery is just around the corner. More restaurants are located nearby in Thibodaux which is a 20-minute drive. Our favorite restaurants is Trudy's in Kreamer.

Driving Directions

Please note that whichever directions you are coming from, when you turn off Hwy. 20 on Hwy. 643, we are exactly 1 mile on the right. The only farmland with horses and cow pastures on Hwy. 643 with 2 big white barns. There is a small sign at the gravel driveway. The cottage is down a gravel driveway behind sugar cane fields.

From the East (New Orleans): Traveling west on I-10 from New Orleans to the "Houma/Boutte" Exit (I-310). Approximately 8 miles on I-310, take Exit 10 - "Donaldsonville"/Hwy. 3127. Continue to travel west for 22 miles to Hwy. 20. Turn left at the light on Hwy. 20 and go 2 miles to Hwy. 643, turn left then go 1 mile. We are on the right.

From the New Orleans Airport (MSY): Start out going SW towards S. Access Rd. Turn right at the light onto Airline Hwy./US-Hwy. 61 and travel 3 miles merging right onto I-310 toward "Boutte/Houma". Approximately 6 miles on I-310, take Exit 10 "Donaldsonville"/Hwy. 3127. Continue to travel west for 22 miles to Hwy. 20. Turn left at the light on Hwy. 20 and go 2 miles to Hwy. 643, turn left then go 1 mile. We are on the right.

From the West (Baton Rouge): Traveling east on I-10 from Baton Rouge to Exit 187 “Gramercy/Lutcher" US-Hwy. 61 south for 9 miles. Turn right on Hwy. 641 which is also known as the Veteran Memorial Bridge. Go over the bridge, stay in the left lane and continue to travel straight for about 6 miles until Hwy. 3127, turn right on Hwy. 3127 and go 2 miles. Turn left at the light on Hwy. 20 and go 2 miles to Hwy. 643, turn left then go 1 mile. We are on the right.

From the North: Traveling south on I-55, merge onto I-10 West toward BATON ROUGE. Travel 14 miles and take Exit 194, the LA-641 South exit, toward GRAMERCY. Turn left on Hwy. 641 and continue for 4 miles which takes you over the Veteran Memorial Bridge (Mississippi River). Go over the bridge, stay in the left lane and continue to travel straight for about 6 miles until Hwy. 3127, turn right on Hwy. 3127 and go 2 miles. Turn left at the light on Hwy. 20 and go 2 miles to Hwy. 643, turn left then go 1 mile. We are on the right.

From the South (Thibodaux): Traveling north on Hwy. 20 for approximately 14 miles until you reach Vacherie. One mile into Vacherie, there's a fork in the road at the water tower. Go straight on Hwy. 643 for 1 mile. We are on the right.
